How Rich is Jeff Bezos?
How rich is Jeff Bezos? Well, he is considered the richest man in the world. Jeff Bezos surpassed Microsoft (MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates to claim this top spot. His net worth has been compared to country's annual GDP. You read that correctly. He is considered richer than the annual market value of all finished goods and services produced within a country.
Now, that means this man has heavy pockets. Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $196.5 Billion. However, that will increase by $864,000 by the time you read this post (assuming 6 min x $144,000/min). That is my conservative calculation. According to Forbes, Bezos was worth $114,000,000,000 in 2019. Wow, those are a lot of zeros. Today, he is worth $196,500,000,000. That year-over-year growth equates to nearly $160,000 per minute!
How is that possible? Clearly, this man is intelligent. So what did Jeff Bezos do to become the richest man in the world? Next, I will share what I have learned about his background.
Amazon Founder Background
For those of you living under a rock, Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur who founded Amazon. He is the chief executive officer of Amazon.com. However, there are not many who know his background. What did Jeff Bezos do before he developed the collosus e-commerce Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN)?
Early Years
Jeff Bezos was born on January 12, 1964 to a 17 year old mother, Jacklyn Gise (maiden name). She originally married Mr. Bezos' biological father, Ted Jorgensen. However, they did not stay married for long.
His teenage mother and him lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She remarried to a cuban immigrant named Miguel Bezos. Miguel Bezos later adopted Jeff, hence the last name Bezos. After the wedding, Miguel and his family moved to Houston, Texas. They resided there for some time before moving to Miami, Florida.
Teenage Years
Jeff Bezos attended Miami Palmetto High School in Pinecrest, Florida. I am sure you are wondering how a young Jeff Bezos did academically. After all, a lot of well known billionaires and geniuses sucked at being students. However, he did extremely well academically. He was the valedictorian and a national merit scholar.
College Years
After high school, he attended Princeton University. I know what you're expecting, this is where the academic wheels fall off. He is definitely an Ivy League drop out. I am sorry to disappoint you. No, he did not drop out of Princeton University. In fact, Jeff Bezos graduated summa cum laude with a 4.2 GPA. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in electrical engineering and computer science.
I love seeing fellow engi-nerds become successful.

Career
After graduation, Jeff Bezos started out working for a financial technology company. He helped build a network for international trading. After, he worked as a product manager in the banking industry for a couple of years. He then transitioned into a young hedge fund that utilized mathematical models. Side note, although I frequently read books on these models and tools, I am passionate about index funds. He found success in this position, but was serious in capitalizing on the extreme internet growth.
The Jump
Jeff Bezos' discussed how he decided to leave his stable job to start Amazon in an interview on achievement.org. He described how he made his decision through a “regret minimization framework.” His intention is to imagine himself at age 80. At this age he wants to know if he had minimized the number of regrets he would take on in life.
What a great way to live life. Just project yourself out to age 80 and think about the decisions made. This removes the short-term gain from a life changing decision. Ultimately, this provides massive long-term gains. Maybe not $195 billion, but more than you can currently quantify or compare with short-term value.
How Rich is Jeff Bezos
Now, the fun part. I will share just how much Jeff Bezos can spend, and still be extremely rich. The first and last example are the most important:
1. How Many Reinast Toothbrushes Can He Buy?
I know what you're thinking. "FE, why in the h-ll would you start off with a toothbrush?" Well, let me answer your question with a question? Why not "purchase" ridiculous items when you have ridiculous wealth? Reinast toothbrushes are manufactured from titanium. That is right, Reinast built a toothbrush from War Machine's armor. Maybe not his armor, but from some expensive material that is coated in a antibacterial coating. What better way to get your day started? He could purchase 25,000 of these and spend only $100 million of his fortune. Not bad, considering the average human uses only 300 toothbrushes in a lifetime.
2. How Many Bugatti La Voiture Noires Can He Buy?

With the hefty price tag of $18.68 million per car, the Bugatti La Voiture Noires is the world's most expensive vehicle. Jeff Bezos could purchase over 7,500 of these and still have over $50 billion in wealth remaining. Of course, this is considering he liquidate numerous assets and investments.
3. How Many Antilla in Mumbai?
For those who do not know, Antilla is a private home in the Mumbai City district in India. It is 27 levels and has a whopping 400,000 square feet. I would not want to be responsible for cleaning this residence. The home has a 168-car garage to accommodate a portion of those make believe Bugatti's. The price tag for this private estate comes in at a mammoth $2.2 billion. He could purchase more than a few of these and still maintain his wealth.
4. How Many Mona Lisa Paintings Could He Own?
We all know there is only one Mona Lisa, so we will not degrade her authenticity? She is estimated to be worth $850 million. If the Louvre in Paris were willing to sell this piece, there are not many people who could afford her. Jeff Bezos could acquire her and still be worth over $195 billion. This would be a unique edition to decorate one of his Antillas.
5. How many rolls of Hanebisho could he buy?
To clarify, Hanebisho is the world's most expensive toilet paper. Yes, this is a necessity and not a want (heavy sarcasm). Let me paint you a picture. Envision sitting on your porcelain thrown and reaching over to this golden delicacy. This glory roll costs $17 each. Do not freak out yet! The roll is not your average 1-ply irritant. The Japanese imported Canadian wood fiber is treated in the purest of pure rivers in Japan, the "Nedo." Have I sold you yet? No, I am not collecting money for this. Nor would I push anyone to purchase such an outlandish item. This is literally flushing money down the toilet! Jeff Bezos could afford this toilet without a doubt.

In Conclusion
How rich is Jeff Bezos? Rich enough to claim the top spot for the World's richest individual. His net worth is sitting at an estimated $196.5 billion (and climbing). Maybe one day my net worth can become even 1% of that! If that is the case, numerous family generations would not have to work.
He could literally use the world's most expensive toothbrush prior to utilizing extravagent toilet paper; in one of numerous bathrooms in the Antilla's; all while gazing upon the mona lisa; before hopping into one of his 150+ Bugatti's. Not a bad day too look forward to.
How would you spend Jeff Bezos money? What other billionaire would you enjoy reading about?
Here’s another way to visualize Jeff Bezos’ extreme wealth:
– The original penny weighs 2.5 gm.
– $1,000,000 in pennies weigh 250,000 kgs or 275 tons.
– $1,000,000,000 in pennies weigh 275,000 tons (the Empire State Building weighs around 300,000 tons).
– $200,000,000,000 in pennies weigh 55,000,000 tons.
– NYC has 284 skyscrapers (taller than 40 floors).
Conclusion:
If you convert Jeff Bezos’ net worth into pennies, collectively, they will be heavier than all the high-rise buildings in NYC combined.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read the latest content. What an awesome way to compare his wealth. It also seems to go with the theme of this blog.
Somewhat off topic, but I am surprised at his interest in commercial space travel… It is probably overshadowed by Amazon, but something to research and stay on top of.
This was so enjoyable to read! I admit I didn’t even know who Jeff Bezos was before reading this. It was interesting to find out about his background, and how many of those expensive things he could afford!
Thanks for taking the time to read it. This was a fun post to learn more about him. It also intrigued me to start reading more about quants and companies that are pursuing commercial space travel.
